Cee’s Share Your Word – October 16, 2017

Another Share Your World challenge by the awesome Cee Neur.  This one is for SYW – October 16, 2017.

The 4 questions are in bold and my answers are in italics:

If you had to move to a country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why?

Gosh,  I have no idea….   Israel comes to mind. Other than that, I really don’t have a good idea.

What color would you like your bedroom to be?

Well if it were totally up to me,  I’d want my bedroom to have pink(and probably some purple)  in it.

What makes you Happy? Make a list of things in your life that bring you joy.

Not in any particular order:

  • Sunrise/Sunsets
  • Laughing/Smiling kids
  • Seeing kids in/on police and fire vehicles
  • Family
  • Baking Cookies for Soldiers and for Firefighters & Police.

Not necessarily a comprehensive list.

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

These little guys are amazingly strong.  They were moving something many times their combined size.

Share You World – October 09, 2017

Joining Cee’s Share Your World challenge.  Each week, Cee has 4 questions for us 4 questions to share a little of our world

Below is Cee’s questions (in bold) and my answers (in italics)

What do you consider is the most perfect food for you? (It can be your favorite food to something extremely healthy.)

In terms of my favorite food that would probably be fruit, I love fruit…  And, fruit can be considered healthy, though if you are diabetic you might have to watch the sugar content in the fruit (yes, fruit does have natural sugar content).

Are you focused on today or tomorrow?

I’d like to say I’m focused equally on “today” and “tomorrow” though I do have a tendency to focus too much on the morrow and not stay in the day.

If you could interview one of your great-great-great grandparents, who would it be (if you know their name) and what would you ask?

Great Great Great (3 greats)…  WOWWW. That’s going back a ways. Well, if I were to have the ability to interview one of my great great great grandparents I would want to interview those from my father’s father’s side of the family.  That side of my family is from Ungvar Hungary.  I don’t know what I would ask specifically but would love to know more about their lives in Ungvar.  Even though this wouldn’t be something I’d necessarily be asking of great great great grandparents, another thing I’d love to know more about is the journey of my father’s father’s side of the family to America.

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

I had a lone granny-smith apple that I really needed to do something with.  I was inspired to cut up the apple and cook it up with butter, cinnamon, and sugar….

And put it on top of a cinnamon roll

The apple mixture could have done with a little less cooking so that there was more texture.  At the same time a little more syrupiness or something  so that, as my son pointed out, it would stay on the cinnamon roll better.

Share Your World – August 14, 2017

Been a while since I’ve done this…  Here goes.

When you leave a room, do you turn the lights off behind you or keep the lights on throughout your house most of the time?

Well, if I’m to be completely honest, I do have a tendency to sometmes get distracted and forget about turning off lights.  I’m often reminded by my husband about a light being left on.

What do you feel is the most enjoyable way to spend $500?

I could go two directions here…  One would be purely selfish and only thinking of me – I’d either get clothes, or maybe some makeup (Mary Kay of course), or candles, or spend money getting stuff I want through Pampered Chef.  Perhaps a little of everything.  The second direction would lean towards thinking of others – I’d likely split the money between a couple good Fire and Police Foundation, or give to the Departments towards upgrading some of their stuff, or a bereavement fund for the families of firefighters & officers killed in the LOD.

Complete this sentence: My favorite thing to do on my cell phone is…

LOL – Guess I’d have to say doing stuff on FB and Twitter…. that and checking my emails and reading various blogposts (via email) as time allows.

What inspired you this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Don’t know if it would be considered an inspiration but I am in awe of how much we collected at this last week’s Dispose-A-Med event (over 500 pounds).  It was insane and amazing to see the turn out.  I can only hope that the next one goes as well.

That concludes my answers to Cee’s Share Your World Questions for this week.  Hope you’ll join the fun….  Have a great week.

Share Your World – June 26, 2017

My response to Cee’s Share Your World challenge this week.

What goal are you working on now?

Don’t really have specific goals that I’m working on right now.  I do need to start towards my next bulk order with MaryKay ($450 retail).  Another thing I’ve been sort of working on is figuring out my carreer path – I know that sounds kind of silly at my age but after all these years, I have no idea what I would both enjoy and be good at.

What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again?
I guess either rafting or horseback riding – actually I don’t know about horseback riding, that I’d actually like to do again (only problem there is that I wouldn’t be able to walk afterwards).  I’m sure there’s other things but having trouble thinking of all the different things I’ve done in my life.

Did you choose your profession or did it choose you?

Warning:  Mary Kay stuff ahead (if you don’t want to hear about my journey there, skip to the next question.

Becoming an Independent Beauty Consultant was something that seemed to have chosen me…  There were many reasons that it almost dind’t happen…

  • I almost didn’t put my name in the drawing for a pampering session.
  • The lady who would become my team leader got into car accident shortly after the event where I had put my name in the drawing.
  • I pushed off answering or returning her calls for the longest time.
  • When she approached me about joining her team I hemmed, hawwed, and hesitated.

She (my team leader) didn’t give up on me and even came up with a plan to help me earn my kit (since I didn’t have the money to buy it)-  I hosted a Facebook party with the idea that if could totally earn my kit I would seriously consider joining her team…  I earned that kit and following that (though it took a month or two) I was able to gather enough orders to go active.

Have you ever gotten lost?

Can’t say that I have actually been lost.   Turned around – yeah, you could say that but can’t say I’ve ever. been completely lost to were I had no idea where I was out or how to get out of being lost.

Share Your World – June 5 & 12, 2017

Geez….  How long has it been?  I keep saving these Share Your World challenges with the best of intentions of doing them, and then I keep pushing them off and forgetting.

This week I’m doing two –

So first June 05:

What’s your strongest sense?

Whoooo boyyy…  Guess I’d have to go with smell.  I am of hard of hearing so obviously that’s out, and I have stigmaatism (and wear glasses) so my eye sight certainly doesn’t count. My sense of taste is okay but but I think my sense of smell is stronger.

Which of Snow White’s 7 dwarfs describes you best? (Doc, Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Dopey)
Right this minute, I’d go for Sleepy (but I’m forcing myself stay up in preparation for my swing shift ridealong on thursday)….  Some days it woud be Grumpy, others it would be Dopey (“Duhhhrrr”).

If you could be one age for the rest of your life, what age would that be?
I honestly have no idea what age I would choose to be for the rest of my life.  None of them are such that I’d want to remain that age forever.  I guess the best times of my life were probably college years.  I had a lot of fun during those years but there’s also things I would change and do differently.

List of Jobs You Think You Might Enjoy: Even if you aren’t thinking about a career change, it can be fun to think of other jobs you might enjoy. [Remember: This is SYW where even your dreams can become reality.]

  • Work in the Crime Scene Unit
  • Detective
  • Reporter/Journalist
  • Baker (maybe)

The work of

  • Firefighters
  • EMTs
  • Police Officers

is something of interest of me but not something I could ever see myself being able to do.

I know, my list is short…  Sure, I could think of other jobs I could do (with the right training) but not ones that I would truly enjoy.

And now, on to June 12….

What do you do when you’re not working? If you are retired, what do you that is not part of your regular daytime routine?

Being a wife (of a disabled husband), Mom (of a son with high functioning autism), and business ownder (hello, Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant here); Not to mention owner/admin of a couple blog/volunteer type deals (not sure exactly what you’d call them)…  The question becomes, ‘when am I not working?’ –  When I am “off duty”/relaxing, I enjoy watching TV shows and videos on Hulu, Netlix, and You Tube.  I also enjoy reading.
What would you do if you won the lottery?

  1. Pay back any and all money owed to anyone.
  2. Buy us our very own house (not one owned and paid for by someone else)
  3. Get a couple new cars – one for hubby that would take his electric wheelchair (one that he can get his chair in & out of without having to have someone go with) and a smaller one (but not too small) for me to run errands around town in….  At this point,  I’m not sure if I’d include a car for my son ornot – He hasn’t really expressed or shown an interest in learning to drive and are there are things that need addressing before he’d be at at a point where he could really be able to learn to drive.

What makes you laugh the most?
That’s a hard question.  So little truly makes me laugh.  Sure I might smile, chuckle, even guffaw but laugh – not so muh.  To be honest, nothing comes to my mind.

What is your biggest pet peeve with modern technology?
The fact that some people seem to think that you should be available at a moments notice…  Just because I have a cell phone and am always on (using) it doesn’t mean there aren’t times when I am away from my phone and not available – or maybe on my phone but busy with something else.  People aren’t willing to wait for replies and answers anymore.
