Cee’s Share Your World challenge – May 01, 2017

Would you rather live where it is always hot or always cold?

I think I’d prefer cold over hot.  Cold,  I can at least layer up and put on extra clothes.  Hot,  I just get lethargic and lazy feeling.  Not to mention, when I get overheated my nose turns into a virtual seive (most annoying).

Do you prefer long hair or short hair for yourself?
I’m not really crazy about having long hair anymore as it is hard for me to mantain and keep it brushed.  I’m not a fan of super short hair either but. I think I’d like it somewhat on the shorter side (actually just about jawline or a bit longer, no more than the top of the shoulders).

What is your favorite month of the year?
I don’t have a favorite month.

What is the easiest way for your to learn something new? By reading, by seeing and doing, in a classroom?
By doing.  I need to see it done first but then. I need to do it and get feedback on how I’m doing.  Showing me how to do something and expecting me to be able to just do it doesn’t work for me.

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
This actually cover both in a way….  I’m happy that my son got everything he needed to done so that he can receive his Star Rank in a couple weeks…  That and I’m happy about the fact that I am officially a member of the volunteers for our local police.   All that’s left is training which is pretty well hands-on.  so now I wait for events to be created that I can join on to.

Share Your World – April 24, 2017

Wanting something to quench your thirst, what would you drink?

Our usual go to, around here, is diluted icea tea (usually made with peppermint tea).

Complete this sentence: Never In My Life Have I….

LOL, where do I begin?   There’s a lot I haven’t done – Some of which I wish I could done and some that I have absolutely no desire to do – EVER!

If you could be given any gift what would it be?

Hmmmm, well there’s a lot of things I could come up with.  One thing I wish I could do would to catch a group of firefighters when they’re doing their daily food shopping and pay for their purchases or, perhaps catch them (or police) when going to lunch and pay for their lunch…  I know there’s a lot of other things like that could be done but that is what comes to mind (and is the kind of person I am).

What do you do if you can’t sleep at night? Do you count sheep, toss and turn, or get up and try to do something productive

Sometimes, I’ll try making up stories in my head as I go to sleep – usually I’ll fall asleep in the middle of a story…  Other days, by the time I get to bed, I’m so tired it doesn’t take much at all for me to fall asleep.

What was I grateful for last week and what am I looking forward to next week

Well, I am grateful for another opportunity to ridealong with a local fire department and the opporunity for a “Front Row” seat to seeing LifeNet landing just ahead of an Open House at another fire department – That was an awesome and exciting experience:

This video (hope it shows up here) was just after the landing – I missed getting a video of when they actually were landing (thought I had started “filming” but apparently had not).  Let me tell you it was something else (even if I had gotten the video I don’t think it would have done justice to actually being there in person.
So there you go, my answers to Cee’s Share Your World questions of the week.  Join in and share your answers.

Cee’s Share Your World – March 27, 2017

Does your first or middle name have any significance (or were you named after another family member)?

With my middle name, it’s simple and yet complicated.  The story I’ve heard over the years is that my middle name comes from my Uncle David (or perhaps another family member with that name) which in hebrew is prounouced Dovid (with either a short “u” sound, or a long or short “o” sound or a depending on dialect.  I’ve always heard the first, growing up.  The name was shortened to “Dov” to be my first name. I’ve been told it means “bear” in hebrew but then near as I can tell the word bear would be pronounce with the long “O” sound rather than the short “u” sound used to pronounced my name….  Have I lost you yet?- LOL.
Music or silence while working?

MUSIC!!!  Definitely Music.  If not music, then quiet please.  It’s hard for me to concentrate with a lot of chattering as I get distracted trying to “hear” conversations even when I’m not trying (or trying not) to listen.

If you had a special place for your three most special possessions (not including photos, electronics, people or animals), what would they be?

  1. My “mother’s” scout pins – given to me as my son has earned each rank:
  2. The Arlington PD (Arlington, TX) pin given to me by my friends in the Public/Community and Social Media relations.
  3. My Mary Kay pin – signifying the start of an awesome new journey:

The Never List: What are things you know you never will do?

  1. Bungee Jumping
  2. Zip-Lining
  3. Getting anywhere near a rattler
  4. Parachuting

That’s all I can think of.

Do you push the elevator button more than once? Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?
Admittedly yes, I have been known to finger punch the elevator button more than once although I logically know that doing so doesn’t make the elevator arrive any faster.

Do you plan out things usually or do you do them more spontaneous (for example if you are visiting a big city you don’t know?)

I tend to be more of a planner, but not a set in stone planner.  I like to have flexibility but don’t like completely leaving things to chance

Describe yourself in at least four uplifting words.

Loyal, Helpful, Smiling…. Hmmmm, yeah – can’t think of anything else.

If you had a choice which would be your preference salt water beaches, fresh water lakes, ocean cruise, hot tub, ski resort or desert?

A cruise might be fun…  Never been on a cruise before.   I have been to the ocean and while it’s fun and all, it’s just not my thing, and I’m not really into skiing either.

And thus are my responses to Cee’s Questions for this week’s Share Your World.

Cee’s Share Your World – Feb 27, 2017

Joining Cee for another Share Your World:

Ever ran out of gas in your vehicle?
Hmmm…  Don’t believe so – Not that I can recall anyway.

Which are better: black or green olives?

I can’t decide.  I like both.  Guess I’d choose the green ones.  I like the tanginess they offer.  What I don’t care much for is certain greek olives.  Don’t know why, I just don’t care for the taste.

If you were a great explorer, what would you explore?

Ohhh gosh, so many possibilities.  I like the quiet of mountains and forests so guess that would be my first choice.  But who knows.

Quotes List: At least three of your favorite quotes?

There are many good quotes and if I stopped to think, I’m sure I could come up with others.  Here are some I like:

1). Was one of my mother’s favorites – “You live life forward but can only understand it backwards” ~ Kiekguard

2) “When you can get on the floor and play with your son without embarrassment, then you are a man” ~ don’t recall source

3) “Expect Great Things and Great Things Will Happen” ~ believe this one is from Mary Kay Ash.

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for a friend of mine who hosted a Mary Kay facebook party and looking forward to hosting another this coming week.  I’m grateful to my loyal clients who make my business possible and the flexibility to be able to do th running around I had to do with and for my family this week while still being able to work my business.  Looking forward to hearing word back regarding my joining the local PD as a volunteer.
