Share Your World – June 5 & 12, 2017

Geez….  How long has it been?  I keep saving these Share Your World challenges with the best of intentions of doing them, and then I keep pushing them off and forgetting.

This week I’m doing two –

So first June 05:

What’s your strongest sense?

Whoooo boyyy…  Guess I’d have to go with smell.  I am of hard of hearing so obviously that’s out, and I have stigmaatism (and wear glasses) so my eye sight certainly doesn’t count. My sense of taste is okay but but I think my sense of smell is stronger.

Which of Snow White’s 7 dwarfs describes you best? (Doc, Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Dopey)
Right this minute, I’d go for Sleepy (but I’m forcing myself stay up in preparation for my swing shift ridealong on thursday)….  Some days it woud be Grumpy, others it would be Dopey (“Duhhhrrr”).

If you could be one age for the rest of your life, what age would that be?
I honestly have no idea what age I would choose to be for the rest of my life.  None of them are such that I’d want to remain that age forever.  I guess the best times of my life were probably college years.  I had a lot of fun during those years but there’s also things I would change and do differently.

List of Jobs You Think You Might Enjoy: Even if you aren’t thinking about a career change, it can be fun to think of other jobs you might enjoy. [Remember: This is SYW where even your dreams can become reality.]

  • Work in the Crime Scene Unit
  • Detective
  • Reporter/Journalist
  • Baker (maybe)

The work of

  • Firefighters
  • EMTs
  • Police Officers

is something of interest of me but not something I could ever see myself being able to do.

I know, my list is short…  Sure, I could think of other jobs I could do (with the right training) but not ones that I would truly enjoy.

And now, on to June 12….

What do you do when you’re not working? If you are retired, what do you that is not part of your regular daytime routine?

Being a wife (of a disabled husband), Mom (of a son with high functioning autism), and business ownder (hello, Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant here); Not to mention owner/admin of a couple blog/volunteer type deals (not sure exactly what you’d call them)…  The question becomes, ‘when am I not working?’ –  When I am “off duty”/relaxing, I enjoy watching TV shows and videos on Hulu, Netlix, and You Tube.  I also enjoy reading.
What would you do if you won the lottery?

  1. Pay back any and all money owed to anyone.
  2. Buy us our very own house (not one owned and paid for by someone else)
  3. Get a couple new cars – one for hubby that would take his electric wheelchair (one that he can get his chair in & out of without having to have someone go with) and a smaller one (but not too small) for me to run errands around town in….  At this point,  I’m not sure if I’d include a car for my son ornot – He hasn’t really expressed or shown an interest in learning to drive and are there are things that need addressing before he’d be at at a point where he could really be able to learn to drive.

What makes you laugh the most?
That’s a hard question.  So little truly makes me laugh.  Sure I might smile, chuckle, even guffaw but laugh – not so muh.  To be honest, nothing comes to my mind.

What is your biggest pet peeve with modern technology?
The fact that some people seem to think that you should be available at a moments notice…  Just because I have a cell phone and am always on (using) it doesn’t mean there aren’t times when I am away from my phone and not available – or maybe on my phone but busy with something else.  People aren’t willing to wait for replies and answers anymore.

Share Your World – May 22, 2017

What one thing have you not done that you really want to do? Nothing really comes to mind.  I was thinking that I might like to take the Martial Arts class with my son but it just hasn’t panned out…. I’ve done ridealongs with Ambulance, Fire, Police.   I’ve taken an EMT course.  Been to college (never received any diplomas or certificates though). Been to the Grand Canyon,  Been to Victoria B.C. (And many other places).  I’m sure there are a lot of things I haven’t done but either I have absolutely no interest in pursuing them or I don’t know what it is I’m missing doing.

How often do you get a haircut?
Hardly ever if you talk about getting it done professionally…  For the most part I usually end up trimming my own hair.

In regards to puzzle what’s your choice: jigsaw, crossword, word search or numeric puzzles?
Word Searches would probably be my top choice followedby maybe numeric puzzes then crosswords.  I’m terrible at crosswords because I can never come up with the exact right word.  Last would be jigsaw puzzles… I’m terrible at doing jigsaw puzzles.

How many cities have you lived? You can share the number of physical residences and/or the number of cities.

Number of cities = hmmmm….. 10 and just about the same number of residences – think there is maybe one or 2 more residences as there are cities that I’ve lived in

Cee’s Share Your World challenge – May 01, 2017

Would you rather live where it is always hot or always cold?

I think I’d prefer cold over hot.  Cold,  I can at least layer up and put on extra clothes.  Hot,  I just get lethargic and lazy feeling.  Not to mention, when I get overheated my nose turns into a virtual seive (most annoying).

Do you prefer long hair or short hair for yourself?
I’m not really crazy about having long hair anymore as it is hard for me to mantain and keep it brushed.  I’m not a fan of super short hair either but. I think I’d like it somewhat on the shorter side (actually just about jawline or a bit longer, no more than the top of the shoulders).

What is your favorite month of the year?
I don’t have a favorite month.

What is the easiest way for your to learn something new? By reading, by seeing and doing, in a classroom?
By doing.  I need to see it done first but then. I need to do it and get feedback on how I’m doing.  Showing me how to do something and expecting me to be able to just do it doesn’t work for me.

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
This actually cover both in a way….  I’m happy that my son got everything he needed to done so that he can receive his Star Rank in a couple weeks…  That and I’m happy about the fact that I am officially a member of the volunteers for our local police.   All that’s left is training which is pretty well hands-on.  so now I wait for events to be created that I can join on to.

Wanting something to quench your thirst, what would you drink?

Our usual go to, around here, is diluted icea tea (usually made with peppermint tea).

Complete this sentence: Never In My Life Have I….

LOL, where do I begin?   There’s a lot I haven’t done – Some of which I wish I could done and some that I have absolutely no desire to do – EVER!

If you could be given any gift what would it be?

Hmmmm, well there’s a lot of things I could come up with.  One thing I wish I could do would to catch a group of firefighters when they’re doing their daily food shopping and pay for their purchases or, perhaps catch them (or police) when going to lunch and pay for their lunch…  I know there’s a lot of other things like that could be done but that is what comes to mind (and is the kind of person I am).

What do you do if you can’t sleep at night? Do you count sheep, toss and turn, or get up and try to do something productive

Sometimes, I’ll try making up stories in my head as I go to sleep – usually I’ll fall asleep in the middle of a story…  Other days, by the time I get to bed, I’m so tired it doesn’t take much at all for me to fall asleep.

What was I grateful for last week and what am I looking forward to next week

Well, I am grateful for another opportunity to ridealong with a local fire department and the opporunity for a “Front Row” seat to seeing LifeNet landing just ahead of an Open House at another fire department – That was an awesome and exciting experience:

This video (hope it shows up here) was just after the landing – I missed getting a video of when they actually were landing (thought I had started “filming” but apparently had not).  Let me tell you it was something else (even if I had gotten the video I don’t think it would have done justice to actually being there in person.

Cee’s Share Your World – March 27, 2017

Does your first or middle name have any significance (or were you named after another family member)?

With my middle name, it’s simple and yet complicated.  The story I’ve heard over the years is that my middle name comes from my Uncle David (or perhaps another family member with that name) which in hebrew is prounouced Dovid (with either a short “u” sound, or a long or short “o” sound or a depending on dialect.  I’ve always heard the first, growing up.  The name was shortened to “Dov” to be my first name. I’ve been told it means “bear” in hebrew but then near as I can tell the word bear would be pronounce with the long “O” sound rather than the short “u” sound used to pronounced my name….  Have I lost you yet?- LOL.
Music or silence while working?

MUSIC!!!  Definitely Music.  If not music, then quiet please.  It’s hard for me to concentrate with a lot of chattering as I get distracted trying to “hear” conversations even when I’m not trying (or trying not) to listen.

If you had a special place for your three most special possessions (not including photos, electronics, people or animals), what would they be?

  1. My “mother’s” scout pins – given to me as my son has earned each rank:
  2. The Arlington PD (Arlington, TX) pin given to me by my friends in the Public/Community and Social Media relations.
  3. My Mary Kay pin – signifying the start of an awesome new journey:

The Never List: What are things you know you never will do?

  1. Bungee Jumping
  2. Zip-Lining
  3. Getting anywhere near a rattler
  4. Parachuting

That’s all I can think of.
