Share Your World – April 23, 2018

If you could have an endless supply of any food, what would you get?:

Probably fruit…. I love fruit.

List at least five movies or books that cheer you up.

Haven’t read many books or watched many movies lately… If I were to really think about it I could probably come up with a good list of books and movies that I’ve enjoyed but as far as which ones actually cheer me up, I don’t know. The “Airplane” movies are good for a lot of laughs as is “Father of the Bride” (at least the first movie in the series is – think there was at least one sequel that came out).

If you were a mouse in your house in the evening, what would you see your family doing?

Probably doing things on our computers/tablets/phones — Might be work stuff, school stuff, or just playing around.

Do you use paper money? If so is your money organized sequentially according to denomination?

Not a lot no, not lately anyway. I wouldn’t say I did so all the time but I have organized my paper money sequentially.

You are comfortable doing nothing? For long stretches of time?

Not really. I prefer to have something to do. I can sit for long period of time but to sit and do absolutely nothing drives me nuts.

What is your greatest strength?

I don’t honestly don’t know. I don’t feel like I have any real strengths. There are things I’m good at, but nothing that i’m really great at. I’m kind of mediocre at everything that I am good at. I’ve always been good at filing and at comparing data (in terms of whether or not the 2 pieces of data are the same or different).

{This is actually for both weeks together}

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

My son recently earned his green belt and I’m proud of him for that. We also got (or should have) the last couple requirements completed for him to get his Aviation Merit Badge. I think he just has one more thing to do to complete his Emergency Preparedness merit badge. We’re still waiting on one last requirement before doing the Scout Master meeting and Board Review for his Life Rank. Hoping something will come up soon for that last requirement so he can start officially working on his Eagle rank.

Yes, I’m running a week behind on this

In Bold are Cee’s questions with my answers in italics –

Been anywhere recently for the first time?

Closest I can think of is that I was out at Canada Del Oro Riverfront Park a week ago Friday. Don’t think I’ve been there since we moved to Arizona just over 5 years ago (at least not that I recall).

List three favorite book characters.

  1. Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz (apparently it was one of my favorite books growing up).
  2. Max and the Wild Things from “Where the Wild Things Live” (or maybe it’s “Are” – another favorite book from my childhood though I’ve forgotten the exact name of the book, apparently.
  3. Ok maybe this doesn’t count as a character, but the Tree in “The Giving Tree”

What is your favorite non alcololic drink: hot or cold?

There are a couple answers I could give here….

Whenever I would fly, as a child, I’d order a Virgin Bloody Mary. Also, when I would go to visit my grandfather in my late teen/early college years, he would take me to a restaurant called “Shaws Blue Crab”. My favorite drink was the virgin style of the strawberry daiquiri. There was this super cute waitress there and my grandfather, to my embarrassment, would keep calling him over to order me another strawberry daiquiri. Of course I like my 2 cups of hot coffee in the morning and we pretty much have cold tea on hand in the fridge.

I am happy to say we finally got the engine light to go out on on our car, got it through DEQ, and got it registered -for the next 2 years anyway. It took some doing and caused a fair amount of frustration but it’s done now.

{In Response to Cee’s Share Your World – April 09, 2018}. Should be back soon with this week’s Share Your World

Cee’s Share Your World – April 02, 2018

Here is Cee’s Share Your World for this week:

What was or is your favorite cartoon?

For those who miss the Saturday Morning Cartoons and wonder what happened to them: The Real Reason Saturday Morning Cartoons Disappeared

I use to watch Saturday Morning Cartoons. There were many cartoons I enjoyed like Flinstones, Popeye, The Bugs Bunny Show, Felix the Cat,

Which cooking utensil (other than the usual pots and pans etc) would you miss the most?

I don’t know maybe my garlic peeler, though I can peel garlic using a chef’s knife and my hands; or perhaps the pastry scraper (which we also use for scooping up vegetables); or how about the the small teflon(?) turner I use to flip pancakes.

Would you dare to sleep in haunted house overnight?

Don’t know that I believe in Haunted Houses and such, but probably wouldn’t do as a dare, as I’m not into dares.

Cee’s Share Your World – March 26, 2018

Cee’s Share Your World in bold, My answers in italics.

What is your favorite color of hair? You can name your hair color or a color that you just like.

I kind of like auburn or chestnut. My hair use to be black with red highlights that came out in the summer months (with the sunshine), but also had a bit of a bluish tinge to it…. Now it’s still black but has quite a bit of grey to it anymore.

List at least 5 things that you are good at.

This is a hard one…. I honestly don’t feel like there’s much I can say I’m “good” at….

  1. Filing
  2. Typing & Data Entry
  3. Taking pictures (not great but ok)
  4. Pretty decent at baking & cooking
  5. Arithmetic (use to be a lot better).

What is your favorite animal or type of animal? (pets, dolphins, stuffed, wild cats, etc).

Hard to choose a favorite –

I like cats, dogs, and horses.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?

Appreciating the fact that hubby’s CT Scan was negative for both aneurysm and for stroke…. Unfortunately we are dealing with 3rd cranial nerve palsy which is affecting one eye.

Hope you’ll join Cee’s Share Your World.

Cee’s Share Your World – March 19, 2018

What is your earliest memory?

I think one of my earliest memories is where I’m sitting at what I believe was my mother’s studio. In my memory, I never see my mother (except for photos I don’t remember what she looks like) but can feel her presence.

Which way does the toilet paper roll go? Over or under?

Neither. We actually don’t put our toilet paper rolls on a holder, we keep it on the counter next to the toilet. Unfortunately the location of the toilet paper roll holder doesn’t really work for me (or hubby) in terms of reachability.

What makes you feel grounded?

Not really sure what, if anything, makes me feel “grounded”…. I do remember one time when I was super sick and hubby took me to Urgency Care. He was trying to be nice and give me a ride on his wheelchair as I could hardly walk a straight line without hanging on to the wall…. Unfortunately the motion of the wheelchair as he wheeled had me feeling most un-grounded. I ended up having to get up and continue with more sore attempt at walking.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Well, I guess you could say that having our car back, the kitchen faucet fixed, and the fact that the CT Scan hubby had yesterday showed no sign of aneurysm or stroke/TIA are things to smile about.
