Hope everyone is having a wonderful day so far. I’m running a lot later than anticipated.
To be honest, I can’t even think of what I did yesterday other than taking our son to a place called Funtastiks to meet w/ his Scout Troop. While he, and the other boys, were there enjoying themselves myself and a few other ladies went over to the Starbucks in the mall across the streets. We also stopped in at a Bed Bath and Beyond while we there. The rest of the time we hung out at Funtastiks. My son is signed up to some work at the sponsoring(?) church for his troop which will get him the last of conservation hours he needs to earn his Life rank… Once he has that done he does the usual Scout Master Meeting followed by the Board of Review at the troop level. Once those are all complete he’ll officially be a Life Scout and can begin working towards Eagle in earnest. The thought crosses my mind, on more than one occasion, just how proud I am of my son, how much he’s matured over the years, and how much good Scouts has done him.
He basically has 4 Merit Badges left, which are all Eagle required, that he needs to complete, plus he needs to be in some sort of official troop position – I’m kind of hoping that maybe he could be a Den Chief for one of the Cub Scout Packs. The other big thing is going to be the Eagle Project that he’ll need to do. Even scarier in many ways is when he has to go in front of the Council for his Eagle Review. I say scary because my son is borderline Aspergers/high-functioning autistic and can have difficulty when it comes to conversing w/ others…. But that is something to worry about when the time comes.
So my Question of the Day is:
Were you in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp-Fire Girls, or anything like that?? What did you think of it? What was your experience like??
Unfortunately I do not have a picture of the day for you. Here are 5, randomly chosen, blogs for you to check out:
