Share Your World – Week 45

Here’s this week’s “Share Your World” by Cee

**********************************************

What was the most important event in your life last week?

Does “nothing” count????  Really, there hasn’t been any important events this last week.  Pretty much every day the same, nothing exciting, nothing major.

Well, Okay, there is one thing, but don’t know that it counts as an important event….

We picked up a 42″ used TV  from son’s gramma yesterday and me and said son managed to get that thing out of our truck, unto pappa’s old wheelchair, into the house, and on floor just the two of us….  Afterwards, my son’s comment was that it “Took NO effort at all”.   I should mention he’s only 12-1/2 and not exactly a muscular kid (though stronger than he looks – when he wants to act like it).

Who was your favorite singer or music group in high school?

I don’t know that I had a favorite singer or music group in high school….  To tell the truth, I still don’t.  I’ve always liked various singers (both single and groups)…..  And considering the fact that High School was nearly 25 years ago (that being from time of graduation), trying to remember the songs I listened to —  My memory isn’t that good ;-P

I’ve pretty much always been in to soft rock and country (though country may actually be a post High School thing for me)

Name the foreign countries you’ve been to.

Pretty much the only foreign country I’ve ever been to (or at least closest to a foreign country) is the two different times I’ve been to Victoria B.C.  Once was on a High School Band Trip to march in a parade there and the other (which I’ve never blogged about) was with my husband right after we first got married (a honeymoon maybe??)

Does your first or middle name have any significance (or were you named after another family member)?

Ahhhhh, Finally an easy one…..

As best as I can understand my first name (Tena) comes from an “Indian princess” – Taini (or something like that – no idea of the actual spelling).   Apparently my mom was reading a book about this person when she was pregnant with me.  Unfortunately I don’t know any more than this.  My mother died when I was 5 and no one else seems to know much of anything.  In my mom’s diaries, she calls me Katinka (???) ….  I have no idea what that means or anything about it.

My Middle name (Dov) is a bit easier.  I’ve been told that I was named for my Uncle David (The  only of his brothers to survive the concentration camps – not counting the couple that stayed in America).  In hebrew David would be pronounced Doveed (the o being a short o like in “hot”).  That’s the closest I can get with out trying to use punctuation marks and all that….  It was shortened to Dov.

  1. I think the most important thing in my week is that I take four food boxes to needy people, (elderly, shut-ins). That feels really satisfying to me. It’s from Gleaners of Clackamas County, which is a food salvage program. I get plenty for us too.
My bar none favorite music group in High School was the Beatles. Before that I’d swoon for Ricky Nelson, back before he was imitating Elvis. He was on the Ozzie and Harriet Show (Does anyone remember that? Ozzie and Harriet Nelson were his parents.) and he’d end the show with a song, a crooner. I was in Jr. High though, so it probably doesn’t count.
I’ve also been to Canada, but across the Souix St. Marie in Northern Michigan. We actually walked across the locks and back. Used to live in Illinois, and camped in Northern Michigan on a particular lake with a family with whom we were good friends every year.
My name is Karen because my cousin was born a few weeks before me and she got Kathy. My grandmother’s name was Florence Katherine, so the Kathy would have been for her. However, since Karen is scandanavian for Katherine, I guess it counts. Middle name, Lynn, just goes well with it. All my kids, first and middle names, were for family too.
