Actually there are two that I really like….
The first is one that my mom liked
“Life can only be understood backwards, but must be lived forward” ~ Kierkegaard
What’s that saying? “Hindsight is 20/20”. Things only make sense (sometimes) after the fact. Often times experience is the only real way to learn.
The second my husband came across.
A rich banker once went to a rabbi and asked him how do I teach my son to be man….. To which the rabbi replied, “When you can get down on the floor and play with your son with others around watching – THEN You Are a Man,”
The problem these days seems to be that way we don’t teach our boys to be proper men…. We don’t teach them how to properly deal with emotions (they are either run amok/out of control or something to be denied and shoved away), We don’t teach them how to show love and affection or say “I Love You” to their wife…….. OR How to get down on the floor and play with their son (or daughter). Being a man isn’t just about being tough and macho….. It’s also about being able to show emotion without being overly emotional
