#NaBloPoMo: Daily Post – Nov 18, 2013

NaBloPoMo November 2013

Realized, at some point today, that I completely blew off yesterdays blogging…..  Are there points deducted for that oversite??  (JK).

Spent the better part of the day preparing for the Blog Talk Radio show I do every Sunday for FES Tidbits…..   Plus, I had a lot on my mind and couldn’t  concentrate on putting any stories together.  I won’t go into the boring details here, but let’s just say that I was dealing with a difficult decision (one which is still not resolved).

Today has been so crazy (seems like every time I turn around I’m needed for something) that it has taken me pretty much all day to put out the show notes for yesterdays Blog Talk Show……  Now here I am 8:00 at night just getting around to writing my daily NaBloPoMo blogpost.

***************************************************

I know this is kind of starting in the middle of a story……  Could (potentially go in with the story I blogged on in my last blogpost.   More of that story can be read in the following blogs:

For ease, I’m going to continue with the same character names that I’ve been using all along – even though this part could, just as easily, fit into another story.

For about the dozenth time, since he had headed over to Margaret’s house, Jason wondered what the hell he was doing stopping by un-announced.   He probably should have contacted Margaret first to tell her he was stopping by, but he had wanted to surprise her.

A few months ago, Jason had contacted Margaret online (after several years, for the most part, of being out of touch).  During that time, they had reconnected and developed a friendship – though Jason kept hoping for more.  Still he understood the need to not rush, understanding Margaret’s need to be cautious after a particularly bad experience.

Holding the bouquet of flowers he had picked up in one hand, Jason rang the doorbell feeling as if his stomach was somewhere in the vicinity of his throat.

Margaret let out a frustrated sigh as the doorbell rang.  Who the heck could be ringing her doorbell on a Sunday evening.   Certainly none of her friends.  The few friends she did have were busy with their families today.   Probably just some sales person.   Margaret pushed herself up from her hands and knees position she had been in scrubbing the floor and headed to the door preparing to turn said “sales person” away.  she had long since learned that a firm hand was often needed to deter them.  Otherwise, one could easily find themselves listening to a long spiel.

“I’m not inter…….” Margaret started to say as she opened the door, her words dying on her lips as she came face to face with a bouquet of flowers.  Not exactly the expected thing to see from  sales person.

“That wasn’t quite the greeting I was hoping for,” a familiar voice responded.   The flowers lowered and Margaret let out a shocked cry

“Jason” she exclaimed.  For a moment Margaret stood there dumbfounded.   “I uhhhhh ummmmm” she stammerred.

“Are you going to invite me in,” Jason asked, “Or just leave me standing out here looking like a fool?”

Margaret moved to one side, allowing Jason into her home.  “I wish I had known you were going to come stop by,  I could have been better dressed.” Margaret said indicating her shabby work clothes.

“You look beautiful just the way you are.” Jason replied.

Margaret shook her head in denial, sure that her face must have turned about 10 shades of pink . “Are you kidding?” she exclaimed, “Look at me,  I’m an absolute mess”

“I am looking at you,” Jason replied appreciatively

Margaret shook her head in disbelief.

“I was hoping I could maybe talk you into letting me take you out to dinner this evening,” Jason went on.  I was told there’s this cute little diner nearby here.  I thought maybe we could check it out.”

“Ummmmm.  I probably ought to change first.” Margaret answered.

“So does that mean you’ll let me take you out?” Jason asked, automatically reaching out to grasp Margaret’s hands.

“Yeah,” Margaret nodded, “I guess it does.”

Jason’s lips turned into a wide smile.   “I was hoping you would” he admitted.

“I guess just make yourself at home.” Margaret said, pulling her hands free from his grip and heading to her bedroom.

A few minutes later, Margaret came back out.

“WOW!!!!!” Jason exclaimed, “You clean up nice…..  Very nice.”  Of course he had though her beautiful before, even dressed in the frumpy sweat clothes she had on earlier.  Now she looked simply gorgeous.   He wondered how it was he had never realized how gorgeous she truly was.  It was everything he could do not to just lean over and kiss her right then and there.

“You ready?” Jason finally managed.

“Yeah.” Margaret answered, allowing Jason to lead her out to where his truck was parked.
