Worried, Mike had followed Sally as she bolted out of the building to where her car was parked. He had known something was wrong almost the minute he saw her answer her phone, had seen the pale look that had suddenly come over her face as she collapsed into a nearby chair. Now, as he caught up with her at her car, Mike could see that she was shaking even more so than she had been earlier. Shaking so badly that she could barely keep a hold of the keys that she was fumbling with.
Mike ignored the wetness of Sally’s tears on his shirt as he pulled her into his arms holding her tightly.
“What’s the matter baby?,” Mike whispered against the top of her head, “What happened?” He felt her shudder and sigh and tightened his hold on her. “Sweetheart?” He prompted.
“My mother, She was just taken to the hospital in critical condition.” Sally managed between sobs, “They’re not sure…….” Unable to continue, Sally broke into more sobs.
“You really shouldn’t be driving yourself like this.”
“I don’t have anyone I can ask”
“Then let me,” Mike insisted.
Sally hesitated for a moment, debating whether or not to continue leaning on Mike’s support, then slowly nodded her Agreement.
Sorry folks it’s already 8:30 at night and I still have another blog to try to get out tonight for FES Tidbits. Plus I’ve got to be up early – Got a 1-1/2 hour bike ride tomorrow (both ways)
